It’s lovely quality 100gsm paper, and in each pack you receive an instruction sheet and 10 sheets of transfer paper. Modern vellum paper is plant based, so it’s perfect for vegan crafters! More recently, I have discovered the Prym heat transfer pen, which has a slightly thicker tip but it a brilliant alternative (and it’s also slightly cheaper than the Sublime Stitching pens). They have a very fine tip, which is great for transferring the design with precision. I prefer to use a permanent method for design transfer in bigger projects, because it means that I can take my time stitching without worrying that the design is going to disappear! Throughout my book I use a Sublime Stitching transfer pen, which are available in black, blue, green and red. This is one of the methods that I recommend in my book, Colourful Fun Embroidery, and I use it in many of the projects there. It works with a heat transfer pen, so I’ll show you how!

Carefully remove the weight that is holding the string in place and press the wax seal firmly into place.

Make sure you fold in any overlapping edges of tape.

Take one of the wax seals you have made and place 2 small strips of double sided tape at the back in the shape of an X.Place a weight in the centre to hold in place (your cooled wax stamp would be perfect) Use your finger to hold the centre of the string in place and carefully pull one end of the string towards the top of the invitation and one end of the strong towards the bottom.Keep wrapping the string around the invitation from both ends until you have 3 separate threads and you meet back in the front centre of your invitation. Now you need to wrap both ends of the string around to the front of the invitation. Place the centre of the string at the centre back of your invitation. Turn the invitation so that it's face down. This will also prevent your wrap from popping open. You might find it useful to use a ruler or the edge of your thumbnail to firmly press along the creases so that you get nice shape, crisp edges.

Fold both sides in towards the centre and use your thumb to create a tight crease at the sides (where the vellum sits against the card).
